You are here

- It is worthwhile to wander around the Gerania mountains which extend from the region of Megara up to the salt-water Lake Heraion and are surrounded by the Corinthian Gulf, the Saronic Gulf and the Alkyonides Gulf. The mountains are hosting a rich variety of pine trees and bushy vegetation. There are more than 950 species of plants recorded in the Gerania mountains, some of which are extremely rare, and the fauna life includes jackals, foxes, hares and hawks. The region is part of the Natura 2000 program, the European network for the protection and preservation of natural heritage.

- You can also admire the famous artificial waterfalls, a unique spectacle and a lovely spot for a short stop, on the route from Loutraki towards Lake Vouliagmeni.
